Student Information
The Halcyon School schedule affords elementary, middle and high school students to take classes with other students in their respective grade level group. Our Elementary students program out of one classroom for the day and the Halcyon teachers come to this classroom for assigned periods to ensure that our students have access to teachers with content specific training. Our Middle and High School students transition from class to class throughout the day in order to mimic a traditional school schedule while also affording them access to the same content specific instruction. Academic course offerings are aligned with District and State Standards and our teachers are committed to providing access to instructional opportunities that mirror those provided in a more traditional school setting. In addition to academic offerings, all students will participate in a daily pro-social group activity with a wide range of course offerings that all ultimately focus on those identified social and self-care skills that are keys to overall success.
Our students have access to individualized clinical and therapeutic services with our two site based therapists from Clinica. Additionally, students and families who are interested in exploring medication options may request a consult and if all in agreement a medication regimen with our prescribing psychiatric provider through a service agreement with Clinica.
BVSD provides transportation to and from the Halcyon campus, provides breakfast and lunch to students who are interested in accessing this offer and also ensures that Halcyon students have access to special service providers identified in Individualized Education Plans in addition to standard District Departmental supports such as Information Technology, Health, Curricular Supports and Safety and Security, Transportation and Nutritional Services supports.
A sense of community and belonging is an important element of the Halcyon School. We proudly wear the Pink and the Black to represent our Panther Nation. We are honored to be a part of a special residential neighborhood - our BCC - the Bucknell Court Community. We celebrate frequently as a school community through events like our First Friday Breakfasts, our Monthly Birthday Shout Outs, Final Friday Film Festivals and our annual WinterFest Celebration.
